Some Links For Patent Search

No comments:
Every so often we come across a great idea and think whether it could be the base for a wonderful invention. But then, many inventions exist in this world. If you create something which you believed was "new", yet had been patented elsewhere in the world, you would have infringed the patent. And, you would have to pay a fine for it. However, it is great if that previous patent had expired. Then, you could copy the invention and create cheaper alternatives. The lifespan of a patent, typically, would be 20 years. It varies from country to country.

The Malaysian Intellectual Property Office has a website, from which patents can be searched for a fee.

The US Patent Trademarks Office, too, may be searched. However, images are in TIFF format and require a QuickTime plugin from Apple.

And then there is the European Patent Office.

Of course, if things get boring around there, you could always look out for instructions on how to make good food. For example:

Hint: Try to search for "Pupasas" -- it's an American Indian staple.

Chocolate Malaysia!

No comments:
It seems that Malaysia has the following statistics on Chocolate:

  • 37 Chocolate Manufacturers
  • 12 Entrepreneurs that make handmade chocolate
  • 9 Cocoa grinders
  • Apparently 0 Cocoa Bean Exporters.

    Things I've recently found

    No comments:
    Dear all,

Things have been picking up pace in the life of Mr. Koo. Yet in these troubled times, I've scoped out a few things. Here's a few touch and go's:

  • Coolest Gadgets - A nice blog about gadgets that make you go "Hmm! Why didn't I think of that?"

  • Silicon Solar - They sell solar panels and related project kits, so that the toy tinkerer in all of us might play with sunshine. I wonder, whether there are any similar concept shops in Malaysia? May be a little money maker waiting for import...

  • Electrolux Twin Clean - A product that's caught my eye. I'm actually looking for water filter based vacuum cleaners, but they seem not to come highly recommended by the sales staff at both Best Denki and JUSCO.

  • Fish Corkscrew - Imagine the pulling power of your hand, popping the cork out.
